Workshop Rules & Guidelines

  1. Before using the workshop for the first time you must read and sign a Safety Acknowledgement and Injury Waiver form.
  2. Dress Code
    • No loose clothing.
    • Shoes must be non slip and cover your entire foot.
    • Safety glasses must be worn at all times while in the workshop.
    • Long hair must be covered or tied back.
    • No music/phone headphones or earbuds while in the workshop. I do have a TV and music that can play in the workshop though.
    • Hearing protection, respirators and dust masks are not required, but recommended based on the task.
  3. No smoking of any kind inside. I do have a smoking section outside though.
  4. Food and drinks are limited to a small section of the shop.
  5. Never attempt to use equipment you're not familiar with.
  6. Inspect every piece of equipment before using it, and report anything broken or missing to me. Make sure the equipment is operating normally. If you can, operate it manually before turning it on.
  7. Fully inspect your material before using any equipment. Make sure there is no metal in the wood if you're using reclaimed wood. Metal will ruin the teeth on the planer, jointer, and some blades.
  8. Report every injury, no matter how minor, to me. Even if it's just a scrape or a bruise, report it. These reports help me keep everyone safer in the future.
  9. Never work in the shop if you've been drinking, using drugs, are tired, or in any altered state.
  10. Clean up as you go. Clean the machine you used when you're done with it before moving onto something else. Keep walkways and floors free of tripping hazards while working.
  11. Minors (anyone under 18) are not permitted to use the workshop, even if accompanied by an adult.
